Project KengiKAT
Project KengiKat is written by Kengi Carr, who spent over two years being homeless. During this time, he was also diagnosed as HIV positive. Kengi has developed two outreach programs, “Do Something Saturday” and “Unpluggin’ HIV,” to help those who are HIV positive and homeless or low-income. His blog shares his experiences with homelessness and HIV, as well as the experiences of others who have confronted similar challenges.
Project KengiKat is my social network where I started my blog. However my blog is now located on my website http://www.blog.dosomethingsaturday.org/
I also maintain a youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/Kengikat
The website is located at http://www.dosomethingsaturday.org/
My blog is about my life as well as the work I have created. Do Something Saturday which was created while I was homeless as an outreach for homeless people in Santa Monica and Venice. This outreach is now celebrating three years of grass roots service and now includes outreaches to low income families, seniors and children, as well as a small meal program, “Kick Start” and a free cell phone program “Stay-n-Touch.
Unpluggin’ HIV was created shortly after being diagnosed HIV positive on April 3, 2008. This outreach was also created while I was still homeless. Next month will mark the one year anniversary of Unpluggin” HIV. This outreaches serves people with HIV or AIDS who are either homeless or low income. The outreach provides monthly support to 40 residents in Downtown LA’s Skid Row in addition to supporting local organization.
