August 07 (1109 Quarrier St., Charleston, WV) – Free HIV Testing

The West Virginia Bureau for Public Health HIV/AIDS/STD program offers free rapid HIV testing on the first Saturday of every month. Tests are done at St. Elizabeth Life House, 1109 Quarrier St. To make an appointment, call Chuck at 304-558-6469. For more information, please see the Charleston AIDS Network website.

August 6-8 (Philadelphia, PA) – Five Below Fundraiser

Bebashi is an HIV/AIDS case management agency which serves low-income people of color with HIV/AIDS. By shopping at the Gallery Mall and Columbus Boulevard Five Below stores, 10 percent of purchases will be donated to Bebashi when customers present the Bebashi flier located on the organization’s website. August 8 (Atlanta, GA) – Atlanta River Raft Race Reunited

The Atlanta Cotillion is holding a river raft race to benefit AID Atlanta. The 3 mile race will take place at the Chattahoochee National Park. Reserve a place online for $60. This includes all equipment and safety gear as well as a snack box and beverage. The race begins at 10 a.m. For more information, please see AID Atlanta Web site.

August 08 (Honolulu, HI) – Grateful Hearts Give Hope

Grateful Hearts Give Hope is a fundraiser for the Gregory House Programs, which help provide housing for people with HIV/AIDS. The event features a silent auction, raffle, and other entertainment. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door; V.I.P. tables can be reserved for $175.

August 9 (Gainsville, FL) – HIV And Middle Age

This group is for HIV-positive people aged 40 years and older. It meets every Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to address the challenges presented by HIV during middle age. It is an open group and no preregistration is required.

August 9 (Atlanta, GA) – Living Well With HIV: For Long Term Survivors

This support group is held every Monday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for HIV-positive persons interested in self-improvement as they learn to live well with HIV. Group members assist one another in recognizing, accepting and overcoming life’s challenges.
