January 11 (Seattle, WA) – HIV/AIDS Planning Council

The Planning Council of the Public Health board serving Seattle and King County will meet from 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. to discuss how to spend federal funds on HIV/AIDS programs. December 11 (Los Angeles, CA) – Monthly AIDS Institute Grand Rounds Lecture

This UCLA lecture series aims to highlight recent research developments on the topic of HIV/AIDS and to interest, educate, and engage attendees. Each hour-long lunchtime lecture will report on new findings and new funding opportunities. The speaker this month will be Ronald C. Desrosiers, Ph. D., director of the New England Primate Research Center.

November 30 – December 3 (Gauteng, South Africa) – 5th SAHARA Conference

Social Aspects of HIV/AIDS Research Alliance (SAHARA) is sponsoring this conference, along with the HSRC, UNAIDS, the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), SADC, UNESCO, and AU institutions (including NEPAD). Topics will include HIV/AIDS in Africa and sociocultural factors.

November 29 – December 1 (New Orleans, LA) – IAPAC 09

IAPAC will feature oral presentations as well as panels and plenary sessions. HIV clinical management, prevention, testing, and psychosocial support will be discussed. The target audience for this conference includes physicians, pharmacists, physicians in training, nurses, psychologists, social workers, advocates, health care alliance coordinators, and allied health care professionals in the fields of HIV and AIDS.

November 19-22 (Jacksonville, FL) – 22nd Annual Conference of The Association of Nurses in AIDS Care 

This year’s conference theme is “Reaching Beyond: Collaborating to Build Capacity.” The conference will address international and domestic issues related to HIV and AIDS for nurses new to the specialty as well as experienced clinicians and researchers. Various learning activities, expert speakers, discussions, and presentations will address HIV nursing issues related to the conference.

November 11-14 (Cologne, Germany) – 12th European AIDS Conference

This event is sponsored by the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS).  Topics will include the latest research in the field of HIV medicine, including therapeutic drugs. EACS encourage young researchers/clinicians to attend, including those from Central and Eastern Europe, and also to submit results from their scientific work to the conference.
